Ok, the title might be misleading, it was one of those days I wish I had more of !

I got to spend the entire day with my fishies !

No 'emergencies' to deal with, no schedule to keep up with.

Just me, my fishies and a little music.

Nearly a holiday !

Glad to had a great day with your fishes. I did that a couple weeks ago. I will be doing that next Saturday too, but it won't be so much fun, I be scooping fish for auction. Probably be a little frustrated.

Yup, tanks are clean, inside and out. Fishroom is swept up, everything is put away.....

And a few great games of 'Chase the finger' were played !

People sometimes look at this hobby as work. Sometimes, the work is the hobby. I love days when I can putter around and get all the tanks going well. Yesterday, I had the evening to myself, and I moved some things around, changed some water and cleaned some glass. I found fry swimming under the noses of my mirabilis, and a huge drop of baby nezahualcoyotl flourishing in another tank. I guess it's a gardener's satisfaction, but it does feel good. It's a relaxed feeling, if you enjoy keeping aquariums and they are all going smoothly and looking good. That's where the 'enjoy' comes in.

My job is sometimes stressful, and getting absorbed in changing the water, adjusting the decor, watching the fish, etc, is mentally engaging and so different from what I do in the day. I see the video-gamer kids at work get absorbed like this, so I can understand where they're coming from a little more.

absolutely. you can observe a lot while doing routine maintenance on the tanks.

I have that exact conversation with a lot of people, "how long does it take to clean up". I give them an average time to do the grunt work (changing water) but cant really find a figure for all the rest of the clean-up. All the mucking around is something that I enjoy, so it doesn't count lol.
