The breeding tube on my Nanochromis parilus is down (and will now be visible for the rest of this female's life). It's a nice little dwarf that used to be popular, until sometime in the seventies when it got swept away in the malawi/Tanganyika craze.3019

Neat fish, what do the males look like? Thats wierd that the breeding tube remains exposed forever... I wonder what the evolutionary benefit is

Gary, I remember purchasing N. Nudiceps regularly from Lyle Hayter back in the 1950's when I worked at Seeds and Birds in Montreal...I never saw them after that but they made a real impression on me back then...Great news that you have the Parilus to work with. Super photos also. Good luck with them.

N parilus and the 1950s nudiceps are probably the same fish. It was one of those deals where the name nudiceps was used by mistake in the hobby, and by the time they figured out what they were importing, they weren't importing it anymore.
