Hey all,
The CAOAC convention is the May long weekend in Brant, Ontario. More details at www.caoac.ca (http://www.caoac.ca) . There's rumoured to be a good speaker giving the International Betta Congress's presentation on wild bettas....

I was thinking of attending, but I missed the deadline on completing my Intermediate Merit award by 15 days, and they won't make an exception, so maybe next year.

So can one just attend the auction and maybe a presentation? I noticed that listening to a presentation is $10 but I am unsure it the auction would require a complete weekend event ticket?
A presentation on wild Bettas and the possibility of actually finding some for sale is so very tempting.

The auction is free to the public. My plans are to bring plants to the auction as fish can be tricky to transport and keep in a hotel room for a couple of days. Hope to meet you there!!

Greetings from Brantford!! Am having a good time and have scored some awesome plants. Attended Eric Bodrock's presentation about "breeding oddballs"( and no, that's not VinceO) and plan on attending his presentation about cories too. Hotel is nice with really good food. Also next year's convention is in winnipeg on the easter weekend so hope to see some of you there. And we still have the auction here on monday.....

Glad you're enjoying it. It'll be interesting to see what treasures show up at the auction tomorrow.

It's the cub reporter "fishclubgirl" in Brantford with an update. More purchases were made today of some orange, yellow and skunk shrimp. As well, some betta occellata fry and adult pugnax will be making the trip back to Alberta with me. And there's still the auction???

I guess that means emptying suitcases of inessentials such as clothes and toiletries to make room for more aquatic hitchhikers, eh?

Call the cops!! I stole plenty of fish in the auction and was gifted with some too. Good thing I had to come back so I could pick up the books, scuds and grindal worms that I didn't have room for. Jay, got home monday and the Mr. fishclubgirl is watching me unpack. His comment "did you take any clothes?" as I bring out bag after bag of fish, shrimp and plants... So your comment is right on the money:wink:
