Here is a pic of one of my female sunburst platy. Is she the same as a sunset platy that I have seen mentioned here?

I gotta admit, I've seen so many names for that and similar colouring that I never remember what the official colors are. As far as I know, yours would be called a Sunset Wag.
One thing is certain though, she's beautiful! I love how the wags set off those colors.

She's very pretty, and by the photo it would seem she knows it...LOL she likes her reflection....
What makes a wag? Is it the black tail? I have to much to learn.

Thank you.I realy like the way it starts out yellow in the middle and then turns orange and red. I have 2 females like her and 2 solid red males so it will be interesting to see what comes out.
What would be the differance between a red and a velvet red?

I think the difference is look of texture.
I have Red Velvet Swords, instead of a shiny appearance, they have more of a matte velvet appearance.
I type that like I know what I'm talking about

Yup, the black tail and (I think) the black dorsal fin is what makes it wag.

Yes, you need all black finnage to be a Wag. The ones with the black tails but don't have the other black fins are a Comet variation. Comet is usually seen as the strip of black on the outer sides of the tail, but it can show itself in many forms.
