This section is usualy dedicated to the health and wellbeing of our fish.
Only a hardcore aquarist can put themselves in the emergency room.
Muck'n about in the basement the other night I happened to notice the water felt acidic. I felt a niggl'n in the end of my finger; very much like a steel sliver - invisible and irritating. I inspected my fingertips and saw nothing. Not to be deterred I continued about my business.
I started formulating thoeries
I devised a simple test.
I executed it - nearly literaly
Standing on the concrete floor I realized I was standing in a puddle.::D:
So being the Vgenius I am - one palm flat on the floor:GEEK:
- the other brave digits boldly into the tank.
Ohhh baby !! None of my very verbal candid observations are appropriate to quote here , , , Follow the rebus
:Dunno:  :SomebodyShootMe: :ghost: :ghost:
I always wanted to be a part of something - in this case it was the transmission mains.
The culprit ?
faulty powerhead.
Stay safe out there folks.

Do I need to get an electrician to install a Ground Fault Interrupt plug or can I do it myself, assuming I use my head for something other than holding my hood up and throw the breaker first? (…learned the hard way on that)

I totally got a mini zap from an internal filter just the other day...although only a small zap...it was more than enough warning for me!

Glad you're ok and joking about the experience! In my parent's town, there is a LFS that has an electric eel for sale if you're interested (4 real).

Thanks, Blaine. Much obliged. It occurs to me that I might need to look at grounding probes instead, since I rent. Don't know how keen the landlord would be to have me mucking about with this.

Thanks, Blaine. I didn't know that you could buy a power bar with a GFCI.

As Rabadswompe said, I'm glad you're still here with us and able to joke about it.

If the idea of having a piece of copper wire in your tank doesn't bother you. Some people get a little uptight with that idea.
Might be more effective/easy to use the ground supplied in an electrical plug.
A wee bit of inventiveness one could use and extension cord and attach a GFI plug to one end or make a ground probe pretty easy.
