I have had red cherries for over and year and never seen them with eggs. Well today while cleaning the tank I found one and was trying to get her to move with the net so the eggs did not get sucked up. Any way they came away from her and are in the tank some where is this okay or bad?

They'll often drop the eggs when stressed. I'll let the more learned Shrimp folks address the rest.

My Son should have lots of Cherries by the time we do our trade in the Spring (almost here!!!) so we'll send you more females. Even if ours aren't ready, I'm sure we can track some down for you.

Yes, like Melody said, I'm extra careful cleaning the tank when I see the shrimps carrying eggs in fear that they may become stressed and drop them. At least you know that your shrimp can produce for you...give them plenty of hidy spots, java moss is excellent. Maybe knowing that's there is immediate refuge can reduce stress?

Being able to cling to something can be the difference between life & death for Shrimp, so you might just be onto something there!

When I vac I usually push all of the plants (Moss & all that) slowly to one side of the tank - the Shrimp scurry with it. Then I vac the open side. Next waterchange do the other side, or do it all at once. I do it all at once and they seem fine with that - babies show up anyways.

I don't think the eggs will hatch once dropped, will they? I've read something somewhere but I can't remember...

I was worried they would not hatch once dropped. Have plenty of plants in there, but next time I will move everything to one side so they go with it. Thanks.

I'm not sure on the eggs so sit tight until someone with a Shrimp brain confirms that....lol.

I don't have a "shrimp" brain, and if I did, I would deny it anyways.

I'm with Mel on this, I never seen my shrimp drop their eggs but I recollect reading somewhere, probably on a shrimp forum about the eggs as good as gone from a higher order shrimp like Red Cherries.
