I recieved a pair of these in the mail from GaryinMontreal today and they started laying eggs as soon as I put them together. The male then proceeded to jump out of the tank, but I managed to rescue him before anything bad happened. I collected over 10 eggs from these and put them into their own container.

Will keep you posted on wether or not the eggs were fertile.

It's cause they're in new surroundings - I raised them in an uncovered 20 gallon and never had a jumper. Fundulopanchax aren't usually wild death leapers.

Well this male must have had a death wish. I collected another 20 eggs from their tank/mop this morning and picked up his dried carcass from the floor shortly after. He got out of a 1/4 inch hole; she must have wanted to talk after or something.

Maybe he should have just mastered, "Yes Dear" and everything would have been fine! LOL

This project turned out to be a flop. None of the eggs were good, and its not dan's mirable 1 fish breeding pair. I put her in a tank with some other fish for now. Not sure what I'll do in the end.

I'm there with you. I have 2 widows now too. I am starting a lonely hearts club tank....

Is yours a male or a female?

females, but from different species than yours. Just meant that I have lost a couple males to jumping. It's like Peter says. They're fine for ever, then one day they're out of the tank like popcorn...
