So, I seperated out what looked like the biggest fish (male) and the plumpest one with smaller size and fins (female)

and now I have about 2 jillion wigglers!

Got some pics of his weak *** bubble nest, and the tank they spawned in, as well as some of the fry that I have transferred to a small rearing tank.

yay!

Congrats Dan! I will be eagerly awaiting pictures. And I guess this gives me one more reason to head up to your place?

Ps. I still need that glass cutting lesson.

Again.. Congrats Sir.

Thanks Vince. Not sure what the heck is going on this weekend. All plans seem tentative... I'd really like to get these spotted, as well as the Farlowellas (which I now think are acus, but still gathering info)

wierd thing with these fry. I seperated them from dad quite early. He was doing a great job but they were in my rack that all the tanks are connected. Any free swimmers were likely to head down to be food for the tank below.

Anyway, I have them in a 1 gal tank, and they have formed little rafts of fry. All stuck together, hanging head up, floating around the tank. I am hoping to get a picture before they seperate as it is really wierd looking.

Pics as promised.

His faux pas bubble nest! As weak as it looks, it held around 100 plus wigglers!

The boys deciding who is the big boss, while the girls watch. I put the big male back in with the group while I raided his bubble nest, and the 2nd biggest male took exception to the attempted return.

Just a picture of them milling about. I love the dark look and reddish orange fin tips of this species of paradise fish!

this is supposed to be a picture of the wigglers, but I was having a nightmare of a time getting the camera to focus on them. Hopefully some of it came out. They were all stuck together by head filaments, floating around in a big raft! They're free swimming now though.

couldn't find my Dumbsh** that I have done lately thread, so will have to update it here.

So, I have 2 5 gal pails of water that I 'age' by filling then using the next day.

Today I refilled one of them, then decided to do a 100% water change for these fry. I think you can see where this is going...
took the water from the pail that I had just filled, instead of the one that had been aging...

Wiped the entire spawn.

He's building a nest, and has a female in tank with him. I think I will be raiding his nest again...

Sorry to hear that, Dan but thankfully he's building another bubble nest so you'll get a chance to do it right next time round.

Vince came over and ended up leaving with what I believe is a pair of these. between the 3 of us breeding them, we should be able to get them going strong in Calgary. They are amazingly pretty.

Put my last female in with a male last night. Wish I'd had my camera handy to take a few pics. I think he made himself dizzy twirling around her...

Turned the lights out immediately to settle them down, and let her acclimatize. Hopefully they will spawn today.

Sure sounds like the male is eager. Let's hope he convinced the female to go along. Fingers crossed they will spawn right away.
