Katie's Place (http://katiesplaceshelter.com/) is a local small animal shelter (Maple Ridge, BC) run entirely by volunteers. It began in 2001 and became a registered charity in 2005. It mainly takes in cats but does also take in some other small animals (there were a few rabbits there when I visited yesterday).

It's home to many cats of all ages awaiting adoption. Although it's a beautiful shelter with lots of area for cats to roam and they are looked after by true cat lovers, it's still not a true home. So if you want to add a furried-friend to your family and are prepared for the commitment involved in being a cat-owner, drop by Katie's Place (on Jackson between 102 Ave & 104 Ave, right next to the SPCA), and see if there is a special furry-friend there who is just right for you.

If adoption of a cat isn't for you, there are many other ways you including:

Volunteering, Sponsoring, or donations such as:

drop off or mail your Save-On-Foods receipts to Katie's Place (from store #935 at ValleyFair Mall and store #928 at Westgate Mall)... this doesn't affect your points
donate money from your returned bottles at Changes Recycling Depot at Valley Fair Mall
donate your Canadian Tire MoneyAttached are a few pictures I took yesterday of some of the current residents at Katie's Place.

I think we should all support organizations like this. While I can't live with, or if I touch a cat in need to wash my hands right away (allergies), Katie's place deserve's our support.

As a side note, the brilliant thing about Storm's get togethers is that it is a triple win scenario. We enjoy a great get together, the seniors win, and the coffee shop wins.

Some nice looking cats I love the one with the white paws and the longer hair creamy/grey one. Our local spca has been doing some renos. The one thing that is so nice is a wire tunnel from inside the building to a fenced in gazebo outside for the cats. The dogs have play areas out back.
I donated all Smokey things and also some of Kelsey stuff and left over foods from both.

Pam, that's wonderful that you thought to donate Smokey's things and even some of Kelsey's to the SPCA. It's hard to part with their things but nice to know that others will enjoy them.

Katies place has many rooms for the cats and each room has a similar sort of thing, access to the outdoors through a door to an area equal in size to the room inside. I was trying to think of what to call these covered fenced in areas... I was thinking sun rooms but gazebos might be a better word.
