I know (and have seen) snails extend their siphon for air at the water's surface. However, tonight I saw one snail sitting on the bottom of the tank with his siphon extended for a long period of time. Any idea why he/she would do this? I'm just concerned in case it may be indicative of a problem. This Brig appears otherwise very healthy.

Mine have done that occasionally, and no problems or deaths yet.
So if you water quality is good, should be OK... I think :err:

Mine do it too, especially when they're eating. If they really had a problem with the oxygen levels, they'd go to the top & breathe.

Thanks for the reassurance. Much appreciated. Water quality is fine. I just hadn't seen one do that before, hence my concern.
