Hey BCers,
I will be in Vancouver at the end of the month and was wondering if anyone wanted to get together. Maybe even run me around to a couple of stores and let me buy you lunch.... It does test my friends patience when she has to. Mods, I wasn't sure where to put this and please feel free to move it to the right forum!!

That's great that you'll be in town. I have wheels and can possibly meet up with you (and take in some fish stores) but it will depend upon which week and which days you'll be in town. With any luck we might be able to get a few folks together for coffee or something.

Ooh, sounds fun. I am trying to keep my fish talk to a minimum with other people in my life, lest their eyes glaze over, so it would be fun to meet some aquarium keepers! My niece is doing gymnastics in the Grey Cup Parade, so have various family commitments on the weekend, but depending on the day/time, I may be able to join you. Looking forward to hearing what plans evolve, and will do my best to join you for a get-together and/or LFS browsing. Somewhere licensed has my vote, but then I'm a public transit user, so don't need to worry about driving. :)

I'm wide open (vacation) . Tuesday would be best day for me if there is an organized forum get together. Can you bring me some Gold Dust Mollies? I can grab them from you when you arrive? I will probably be in Richmond sat evening anyway.

Have a great time at the game Ann Marie.
If it's half as entertaining as the Vanier Cup just was, football fans are in for a real treat.

I'm thinking Monday night 6ish and we meet at a restaurant near my hotel on west broadway and heather. Any suggestions?? Namor, I don't have tickets to the Grey Cup(I did go to it when it was in Calgary) just wanted to visit some friends and happened to pick the Grey Cup weekend. Should be fun though and looking forward to meeting some CACers!!

I don't know what restaurants are in the area of your hotel... maybe someone else has some suggestions or if there's a place closer to everyone who intends to get together, I could always pick you up at the hotel, fishclubgirl.

I was thinking 6:30 can be tough for anyone who's not in Vancouver proper to get to... especially on a weeknight (traffic is is little heavier than Calgary.
How about we all meet at a restaurant or pub within walking distance to a skytrain station to make it accessible for those without wheels? Say closer to 7 pm? Your thoughts?

How does 7 at the Cactus Club at Cambie and Broadway sound?? It's only a block or two from the Skytrain. Jay, if you can shoot me a phone number, I'll get in touch.

I'm not sure if I can make it and will have to see tomorrow, but I definitely will try, as it would be great to meet some people from this very friendly forum in person. Is someone making a reservation and needing to know exact numbers in advance, or is it ok to confirm tomorrow afternoon?

I'll meet you at Braid and we can SkyTrain it down together if you like. Will PM you momentarily.
PS. Everyone who has a CAC baseball cap should wear it so we can find each other.

I realize this is duplication from the "Dinner" thread but as it's about meeting at Cactus Club tonight I figured I'd better post it here as well.
Here's their Cactus Club menu (http://www.cactusclubcafe.com/menus/) (you can download the menu by location (in our case the location is Broadway & Ash).
For anyone joining us the address is: 575 West Broadway (info here (http://www.cactusclubcafe.com/location/broadway-ash/)including map).
No reservations are required for tonight so if you're not sure if you can make it, but decide you can at the last moment, just meet us there.
I'll make a point of letting them know when we're seated that there might be other folks from Canadian Aquarium Connection dropping by so that they can direct you to our table if you do and we're already seated.

It turned out to be a most pleasurable evening. Great food, great company and lots of "fish talk". Acutally, I don't think we found time to talk about anything else. Was great to meet Ann Marie and hopefully we can organize another get-together again and maybe some more CAC members can join in the fun.

Geographically, the middle is Baker Lake Nunavut. :Holiday-1:
But along the latitude lines, I think it's somewhere just East of Winnipeg.
 ... isn't the CAOAC convention being held there this year?

Those miniatures are a must for visitors for sure. We also now have screech coffee, screech bbq sauce, blueberry screech jam, and screech chocolate syrup.
Truth me known, I actually hate the rum. It's disgusting.
