For those who are on Daylight Savings Time, don't forget to set your clocks BACK ONE HOUR tonight!

We fall back to Standard Time at 2 a.m. Nov 6th.

This means you either get an extra hour of sleep or get to stay up late tonight... your choice.

Also a note for iPod users who rely on their phone alarms. Apparently, due to a bug in the software, the phone doesn't recognize the change to Standard Time... you'll have to reset it manually. More info here (http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/tech/Daylight-Savings-Bug-Hits-iPhone-106831554.html).

Tips:

Replace your batteries in your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors
Other excellent tips were shared a couple of years ago in this thread (http://www.canadianaquariumconnection.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22).

I have 30 done so far only 50 odd more to go.
I have about 120 plus a few more in parts, but they don't all work, on-going projects but my clock workbench has fish tanks in front of it right now.

Did I mention I had clockitis before I came down with fish-itis.

The durnd itises are keeping me in the poor house<G>

When I was working I had toolitis of the Snap-On variety.
2 weeks before I became disabled I bought the 'new' Dale Everhart tool box for only $10,000 and put the $8,000 worth of just $nap-On tools in it.

That does not take into account the carpenters tools I had accumulated over 30 years or, plumbers tools, or electricians, or welders tools, and all the power tools they required.
My last job was as plant maintenance/millwright/electrician/fabricator so I needed all my trades

My 4 post lift fills the center of my garage, right now it has the turtle tub on it for the winter as they don't know how to hibernate.

At least when I was a professional bartender I could carry all my tools in one hand<G>

Fish-itis might be your least expensive itis.

I don't now about that<G>
I had to go to Pauls to pick up a bulb for my BioCube on Monday last week.
On Wed one of the ballast died.

My food orders have been coming in, along with the food I orders from Melody and Pam, I have $300 of bulk Koi, Cichlid, and bottom feeder pellets.

I'm still working my way through the 5 KG of spiraling fake I bought in the spring.

I like to by my foods in bulk as I use 1 pound a week of the various pellets, and the treats Bottom Bits and Critter Crumbs.

At least I don't have to feed the pond fish now as the water tem is down to 48 F.

I think I will take my big pond fitter/UV out of the loop for the winter as a 15 gallon filter and hoses will act like a chiller being outside in the winter.

They are warning of a heavy snow winter and I expect to loose power a few times, that reminds me I have to start my generator and make sure it has fresh fuel.

 Don't you even mention that white stuff. It's a 4-letter word, you know!

However, it's good to hear you're planning for the worst. Better be prepared than scrambling at the last moment to try to keep your fish alive.

Mike,

As a clocksmith, you may want to consider moving to central Sask.
-We only re-set the clocks when the power goes out.

It's kinda amazing what a difference that hour makes.
My Sunday programs were all on later, and I  half-way through. (Darn comfy recliner).

Gonna be a long day tomorrow.

By the time you've adjusted, it'll be time to change the clocks back again.

I wonder if our pets (aquatic and otherwise) have issues with it. After all, we tend to get up, turn lights on and feed them according to our time shedule (which is now an hour later).

We don't change time here in SK but my dog is having real issues with the lack of sunlight we're getting lately. She's been sleepy in the morning and going to bed early at night.

My middle aged cat doesn't notice much different, her schedule is variable anyway, but my 2 senior cats are still waking up at the same time and howling for food. Previously that was 8 a.m. and now the new time is 7 a.m.
Me not impressed.....me still tired......

She's probably following her natural instinct which says darkness=sleeptime. Humans could do that except we decided years ago to invent the lightbulb which steals our precious sleep.
