Hello, im just curious as to the very first fish you guys have owned. Maybe its the fish that made you the aquarium finatics you are now, or maybe the its fish you want nothing to do with to this day.
About 5 yrs ago i bought my very first fish. He was a convict cichlid with a bad attitude.
When he was mad he would act like a drunken rock star in a hotel room destroying whatever he could. The personality of this fish alone instantly turned me on to cichlids.
So i went out and bought 2 more, a JD and an Auratus( african&mistake#1). I did not know any better not to keep africans with c/a, s/a's but luckily & oddly they all got along. The dominant fish was the 3" convict, which was weird to me being the JD was pushing 6-1/2" and even the auratus was near 5". However the larger ones became submissive so their was no real aggression (biting etc), just the odd tail slap from the convict to make his presence known lol.
From then on all ive ever kept was cichlids, with the exception of my current dwarf gourami and senegal bichir.

My first fish was a Betta and I LOVED them until my big brother educated me on the mating ritual. Being 9 yrs old I thought it was mean and gave him away because I didn't like him anymore for being mean.....

First fish, goldfish, I think about half a dozen of them when I was 8. They seemed to fit quite nicely in a 5 and 1/2 gallon tank. Metal framed with a steel canopy.

White cloud minnows and a couple tiny flying foxes. I had to split up the foxes right away 'cause they wouldn't get along so my second tank came about a week after the first :)
When I got some white cloud babies I got pretty excited and lavished attention on them. About six months later I fed them to a cichlid :wideeyed:

I still have the mellower of the two foxes, but I don't think they are really suited to aquariums, they want a fast river or something.

My first aquarium fish was a huge goldfish I adopted/inherited from an elderly family friend when I was a youngster.

My first is a sunset platy. I still remember I got it from BA over 10 years ago.
And after a few days, i got tons of baby fish swimming around ;)
