Seems like everytime I goto buy fish FOOD, I end up buying fish as well !

Tonite it's a trio of Rainbow Platys and a trio of Red Crested Platys. :WhoMe:

They also had Chocolate Mollies, I've never seen them before. Good looking colour, much like a black, only dark brown.

I think I'm going to have to buy an acreage so I can build a fish quonset. A fish room is just not gonna cut it anymore. :err:

I need a fish FOOD store, not a fish store that sells food !

ROFL Order online, that's what I do. Can't wait to see them - pic's?

The chocolates have been around for a few years. The ones I usually see are albino forms. I had Albino Lyres in chocolate once in fact, but they didn't last long - one of the lessons I learned about a certain store. Very pretty fishies if they're healthy though!

Love all of these common names....lol...Rainbow Platy's for St. Paddy's Day?

One of joys of shopping retail, figuring out what you actually bought when you get home.

I may yet go back for some of the Chocolates, I'll give the new fishies a day to settle in before I annoy them with the camera.

The new platys sound really pretty... annoy them with the camera? platys think the camera was invented just to take their picture.

I'll try to be patient, but don't forget to post the pics.

Here they are, pictures as promised.

Ok, so these aren't Platys, they're Limia Nigrofasciata and a female sword. the Limias arrived yesterday (thanks Melody) and share their new home with the new Platys.

There's one of the Rainbow Platys, along with my new male Swordtail (thanks Melody).
I had to use a little food to coax them out.

Very nice - I see some familiar colors with new names in there, or some I never knew had names...lol. The Rainbow Platy's look like they favour Variatus? Or is that the angle of the pic?

Can't wait to see how that male Sword looks when he gets some growth on him - that dorsal is already long for his age.

I don't remember off hand the appropriate names, but both tend to look more like shorter fatter Platy than the long slender one.

Edit - Maculatus, thats the word !

Must be the angle then - short & fat has Maculatus written all over it. I can't see the dorsal on the Rainbow so its hard to tell.

Good thing platys can't read... they might offended. Mind you that description fits more than 50% of the fish in my tanks. :secret: Just don't tell them I said so. :wideeyed:

Beautiful fish blaine... those rainbows... love them....hmmm... definitely a breeding possibility (& just when I thought I'd decided on a breeding program.) :spinny:

Plump Platy's are healthy Platy's - nature is much less shallow than humans

Nice fish/pics Blaine!

That's an interesteresting filtration system, may I ask how you have it set up?

What you're probably seeing is the drain pipes to the sump below.

When I built the rack that those tanks are on I made post of it here http://www.canadianaquariumconnection.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46 in the DIY section.

It has a few pictures of the complete rack and tanks.
