As the title says. The drilled hole (which has the bulkhead) is located on the bottom of the tank onto the left (or right if you turn the tank around) side on the bottom. It has it's own PVC pipe from the bulkhead to the top of the tank where the water drains into. The PVC (and bulkhead) is definately 1 inch but it may even be a bit larger e.g. 1.5 inch
