People say to keep clipping the leaves before they reach the surface. That way they'll stay submerged where they are purty :)
This tank is at my folks' though, and that point passed about 6 months ago. Now I have a green/burgundy lily that has (probably due to all the light at the surface) spawned a twin and a bunch of pups. Anyone know if I can train it back to submerged status?
I would hack all the leaves back if I thought it might stay below when they regrow, but I picture the first new leaf shooting straight for the surface.

If anyone cares: ;)

You can re-train one that is producing mostly floating leaves to remain submersed again, but it's harder than starting from scratch.

Why would you want to? The flower is pretty cool! ;)

I imagine it is, but when the leaves take over a tank and shade everything else out, its pretty hideous...

I thought maybe let one flower outside in a barrel tub or something...might be worth doing.

Too late! there are two big fat flower stems/buds streaking for the surface today, my conscience won't let me cut them back now 'til their done. Unfortunately I won't see the tank again for another couple of weeks so I'll probably miss them flower :( I wish I could've taken a pic, the stems/buds are nifty, but the camera is in Arizona
