An interesting little fish has shown up in my Silver Molly tank.
I'm not sure if it's a Molly, but I can't see how anything else could get in there !
It don't have any other fish that look quite like it.
He/she has a similar shape to Molly fry. The big difference is a black line that starts just above the eye, passes thru the eye and ends just below the eye.

Sorry about the lousy pictures, they're all I've been able to get as yet.
Does anyone know if this is just an interesting anomaly or do I have homeless fish bunking in with my fish ?

I can't really see it Blaine, but the line says Gambusia to me. It could just be a color variation of something else, but the line through the eye is pretty distinctive..... Its a trademark on a few fish though. I think even Het's have it, don't they? I'll see if I can dig up anything in the Aqualog. I'm sure I read a description recently that mentioned the marking. The mouth should tell you if its a Molly - very upturned.
The shape reminds me of a Platy...
Have you added any plants lately? Sometimes they harbour fish.

are there glass lids on your tanks?? any way the fish could have jumped over from a tank beside it??
this actually happened to me a few weeks back when a little barb jumped into the tank beside it.. since then I have put glass covers on those tanks so it won't be happening again anytime soon.

Funny, I had a reply all typed up this morning and it's not here ?? Must have hit the preview button. :spinny:
The tank hasn't had anything new added for a few months, other than fry drops.
I agree, the line thru the eye looks like a Gambusia, but there are no Gambusia here ( yet ).
All of the tanks have a small open area and I have had to fish fry out out the sump before, but I just don't have any fish with this feature.
I'll try to get some better pictures, but he/she stays pretty hidden most of the time. I suppose the other option is just to wait for the fish to grow out a little.
Hmmmmmm.......

You're supposed to eavesdrop on a forum. In fact, we encourage it!::D:
Maybe you'll develop a new teardrop something or other! It could just be a well placed dalmation spot - the silvers & dalmations are often outcrossed. Most vertical stripes don't go into the head, so that eliminates your Limias & all that. Swordtails & Platy's can have spots all over.
So there's a few possibilities there, but it will be fun waiting to see what it is. You can probably narrow down the species by comparing dorsals.
