Ok, I know i'm watching gravid spots again and you'll think I'm nuts, but I just have to ask....

The large orange and black female that dropped two days ago, still looked quite large to me, so I've been trying to catch a glimpse of her gravid spot. I got a really good look this morning while she was eating at the surface, under the light. When she was about 2 weeks along, I left a thread in here describing what her gravid spot looked and it appeared like she had orange "eggs" in her gravid spot. She only dropped two days ago and she has that exact same thing again. You can see them as clear as can be. Is that possible??????:wideeyed: Thanks

There's too much variance in Livebearers for me to claim to be any sort of expert...lol...but no, any that I've seen will empty & start again. Asking if its 'possible' or not is a totally different matter - anything is possible I suppose, but I'd say its unlikely. Are you sure she's the one that dropped?

Kind of off topic.. but I can remember many years ago a friends parents raised chickens. I was there one day and they were butchering some.. the hens were full of eggs in all stages of development. From full grown eggs;) to tiny teenie ones the size of green peas. OK back to my regularly scheduled Sat afternoon daze!

Its certainly a possibility in that respect, they just usually get skinny first. It would be more accurate to say that they completely empty of term fry, now that you mention it. I suppose if she didn't contract for some reason, the eggs would be more visible. Very interesting!

Honeeeyyyyy IIIIII"MMM hoommmeeee::D: . Loong day at work. Missed you guys/gals... Alright, enough of my crazy antics.....

She's definetly the one that dropped without a single doubt. The reason I know is because, she's the one that I could see very destinct eyes in the gravid spot. The eyes are definetly gone and she's got the orange egg like circles in there again. Remember I had asked you about those before around what I thought was two weeks? I swear it's exactly like that and she's only slightly smaller. It's cool to see but very baffeling!!!

It will be interesting to find out what's going on. Maybe she's just big-boned  .

Absolutely. I'm very good with excuses if you need more. For example, I'm still carrying extra weight because I just had a baby.

My baby will be 13 in June.

I wanted to update this thread because I'm totally amazed and curious about this subject. Remember I said that she looked like she had the orange eggs again. And that she had looked that way at the two week mark (or in that approx range). I took another good hard look tonight and I can see the eyes in the gravid spot. She only dropped 12 days ago and is FULL again with eyes in the gravid spot. I'd really like to pass this one to the pros. I'm really interested. I'll take photos and post them tonight or tomorrow.

What's the question?

Livebearers are always pregnant so it makes sense that you'd see the various stages if her coloring allows. The only way she'll drop quicker than every 4 weeks or so, is if she actually miscarried some last time and continued on.

I'm just totally amazed and didn't realize that they can be preg in different stages. It's so cool!! I wasn't sure if that was a normal thing.

OIC - I was more concerned at first that she was ill actually. It isn't normal for their 'stomach' to remain distended. The condition making the next batch of fry visible is logical enough though.
