This is a first for me!!! When I bought my very young bronze cory's a few weeks ago. They looked like typical bronze cory's. I took a good look at them yesterday for the first time in a while and they look RED. VERY red. They're in my 25 gal breeding tank, which I haven't taken much interest in lately because of my fry tank side tracking me. I was shocked when I saw that. My lighting is a reg flourescent bulb with gold coloured gravel. There's not really any red in the tank that they could be reflecting. Anyone heard of this???

They may just be getting their Bronze coloration. If they're breeding, it could also intensify the colors.

no, not sick... they might just be a color morph of Corydoras aeneus. Some people even think this should be a new species and have already been calling it something different, but are still waiting for the scientists to change it. It is often refered to as Corydoras venezuelanus, but you have to remember that this name has yet to be officially given to it.
I would love to see pics of your fish when you get the chance

I have to replace the flour fixture in that tank. It's starting to flicker. I'll be doing that next thursday (payday) and then i'll be able to take some better photos. They not as bright orange as the photos appear, but they're a lot more red/orange than any of the bronzes in other tanks.

LOL I think we need to see pic's before we decide that one, but it would be cool for sure! I have a lot of variance in even sibling Bronze Cory's. The orange one pictured is neat though - looks like a 'Lazer Cory' relative.

I was eyeballing some green cory's that looked very sharp yesterday. Does anyone know anything about them or spawn them?? I don't know the type of cory they are, just that they were labelled "green cory"

green corys are one of many common names for a few corys.. they most commonly are corydoras aeneus.. sometimes corydoras melanotaenia and every once in a while Brochis splendens
