Here are the Shrimp I came home with on my shopping trip. The clear one I am pretty sure is a Japanese Algea Eating Shrimp or Amano Shrimp. But I am not sure what the dark ones are. Are they the same just different colours or are they a different speices?
Does anyone reconize them?

I believe that the dark shrimp are malaysian rainbows, pictured at this german site:

A search for neocaridina sp. 'zeylanica' may also show some similar results. They come in a wide variety of colours, like clear, blue, red and yellow. The stripe that runs perpendicular to the stripe on their backs is a main cue; amanos don't typically show this, they just have a straight stripe on their backs. Amanos do come in a variety of different colours, though; I have some that are a blue colouration, and I know that green and yellow are also available. I have kept rainbows, but made the mistake of keeping them with loaches... they hid most of the time, and didn't last much more than eight months.
I suspect that the clear shrimp may be a ghost shrimp, rather than amano; it has no back stripe and the eyes are larger and wider set than a typical amano.

Thanks for the ideas and names I've been looking them up.The ghost shrimp sound neet but so far i am alittle confussed, one site says they get 2-3" and lives 10 years but another site says about the same size but only lives 11/2 years.:err: I am going to keep looking.
Melody I like the blue too. I am glad I took pics before I added them to my tank because I havn't seen the dark ones since. The funny thing is that the lady at the pet store gave me the sunkin ship ornament that we found them hiding in. I thought that was really nice of her and I hope it halped them move. I do hope they come out of hiding soon, I would like to see them but then they might be coming ouy at night.lol
