I saw these snails at the LFS and they were called zebra snails? There is a picture at another forum of them but didn't know if I could link it to here or not? Said they eat algae?
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Do they look like the one on the right in the photo below? (Sorry for the glare of the flash but it's the best pic I have). If so, it's a zebra (nerite snail) and yes, it is an excellent algae eater... eating pretty much exclusively algae. You're more likely to find additional info on them by looking up nerite. I think they have info on them at applesnail.net under 'other snails'.

If you decided to get some snails, the type you choose will be dependent upon whether or not you have plants in your tank. Check: Snails: Plant Eater or Not? (http://www.canadianaquariumconnection.com/forum/showthread.php?t=204) for info on which the various type and which will ones eat plants.

Keep in mind that your laws are much different than ours here in Canada. The last I heard, permits weren't being issued for A. Spixi, so you'll have to obtain them from within your State.

You've got bunches of those again? I forgot that you kept some actually, so I'm glad that you mentioned it. I like to keep all of this straight in my head so I know where to refer who. Anyways, your snails certainly have my recommendation!
Jay - any progress on that breeders list? :Whip:
As for Zebra snails, the ones in stores are usually Nerites as mentioned, but if the merchant purchases from local breeders, he/she could call them anything.

Its fun to crack the whip, even if you do only laugh at me and tell me you'll do it when you feel like it  .
