Hi all,

I just noticed that all my ivory brigs seem to be more sensitive than the other colors. They never seem to make it passed nickel size when all my other snails seem to be thriving. I was wondering if they were a more sensitive strain. Melody said that pinks seem to be more sensitive and my pinks are doing great! Just wondering what everyone else has noticed. I still have 1 ivory left. I hope he makes it through!

Interesting. I have less Ivory Brigs than other colors for comparison, however I do have a number of them 'quarter-sized' and up (and a several little'uns). However, that said, I did lose one 'breeder size' Ivory Brig (she was 3/4 the size of a golf ball). Not sure why  & probably a coincidence that she was an Ivory.

It will be interesting to hear other's experiences and maybe Melody will have some insight as well.

I'm scared to post this as I may be jinxing myself, but I have 5 beautiful ivories that I got from melody when they were only the size of peas. They're now (about 4 months later) the size of silver dollars and still doing amazingly well.

Already replied to Ms. Mixixe via PM and suggested she post here so she can get a more wide variety of experiences. I didn't want anyone to think I was ignoring her post:no: ...lol.

I haven't noticed anything but I do get more reports on pinks being sensitive and growing slower. The genetics are very well mixed so its not that - I'm downright obsessive when it comes to that stuff and what's worse, I expect the breeders I buy from to be just as obsessive as I am :Embarassing: . Point being, chances are its not genetic as such. Albinos are more sensitive in most groups I find, but Ivories aren't true albinos.

It will be interesting to hear from the other snailers. Certainly is intriguing. When you have more of those lovely plants of yours available, let me know and I'll dig out some larger Ivories for you to try on a trade. I'd hate to see you hand out cash for them if they don't make it.

The water supplies are changing, so just in case, you could try doubling up on your dechlorintor and make sure it tackles chloramines as well as chlorine. Copper is another one it should cover. Do you have Shrimp? If they're ok, the water is ok.

I'm sorry to hear of your trouble with them. Hopefully we'll get it figured out soon!

I hear we have no chloramines in our water. BTW, yes I do have shrimp and they are doing great too. My shrimp, snails and livebearers all live together. All get liquid calcium supplements, eat zucchini and fishflakes and snail snax. Water readings are always fine. I just dont know why  I still have one more left... from the four I got from you about two weeks ago or three weeks ago. I hope the last one makes it!

Our water supply didn't have chloramines last week, but it could still have them this week....lol...damn them anyways. However, if the Shrimp are ok, it shouldn't be that. Very odd indeed. Its the first time I've heard of it.

I checked their tank just in case - everyone is alive & kicking. Found 2 clutches while I was there...lol....so I guess they're fine.

Then I'd say its a fluke at best. Sounds like some happy snails to me. Nice job!
