I had to "borrow" my heater from my 10 gallon planted shrimp tank for a QT tank. The temperature stays around 68 degrees with no heater. Is this detrimental to plants or the shrimp? I've got taiwan blues and cherry shrimp, a couple of apple snails and low light plants (java moss, java fern, pennywort, hornwort).
Thanks.

I believe that snails and shrimp should be OK at that temp. Mine were fine at any rate. Plants also shouldn't have any problems.

Oh good, I know the snails and shrimp seem fine with the lack of a heater, I was wonodering about the plants though, as I've always used heaters on tanks before this.

Hey there Barb,
I don't keep a heater in my fry tank for swordtails. I have TONS of plants, planted and floating. The temp hovers around 70. Here's a photo of how well the plants are doing.:;):

Thanks Kristy, I've seen your tanks and they were heavily planted. No heater heh? Definately was no detriment to plants which is good to know.
