I hope to attend next year but I can't swing this year. I do fly free of charge though, so I'm sure I'll make it there at some point. I also have a Brother in Ontario so I'm practically obligated to go! It would be fun to meet some of our members there.
I strongly encourage people to attend the shows/auctions when they come up. The fish are premium - not only for shows but also because there is a sense of breeder pride in showing them off at a big fish event. I mean, if I was going to auction fish, I wouldn't want to have them waving some inferior fish up there and saying they're mine in front of hundreds of serious fishkeepers, right? :Embarassing: They also have fish sales where breeders can sell their fish - I wouldn't want to stand beside a table of icky fishies and say they're mine either.
The speakers at these events are usually awesome too. Plus you can make all sorts of connections.
If anyone goes, please take your camera & share some pic's with us!

I think I'll be going..I baked brownies and filled the fridge with beer. I'll casually mention it in 2 hours as I'm walking away into a different room. So he'll hear convention, London. But nothing about breeders and fish. I'm not really permitted to go near goldfish unattended. Not that it stops me, I prefer to be alone then I can make up the prices that I paid for them and get my story straight before I get home. he he

Your welcome! Get something you can breed and sell! Then you can tell him it's helping pay for your hobby.
Had a lot of experience in this department? Every tank I own was paid for with store credit from my fish:;):. It is true just did not tell him I kicked in some of my own money.
When I got my last tank I set it up in the laundry room. He did not notice at first but the next night I hear from the laundry room" Where did this come from?"
Store credit of course. Then the next night he was checking out my Albino BN's and I told him I get $7 a piece from the pet store. He tells me I should be breeding them. I said what do you think that new tank is for. Never heard another word. No room for anymore tanks, but that does not mean I can't replace the ones I already have with bigger ones.::D:
Never lie, just stretch the truth a little. Besides don't all men exagerate things to some degree. Besides their hobbies usually are not cheap. My husband snowmobiles and gets a new one every couple of years. Which is an excuse for me to get something, right? Only fair!

 I do not miss that game one bit! Plus I suck at it. I think that's why I'm sassy. I'll get it and dare someone to say anything about it rather than try to mislead because I'm horrible at even white lies.

Thanks Pamela and Melody...Until my work visa goes through he has every reason to complain I guess since he's 60% of the bills. I had a solid job offer contract, you name it when my work visa fell through 4 days before school started, now I have to volunteer so until then I just have to be frugal. I am going to breed my oranda's I have a few which are show quality that were imported from China and Thailand. 2 of my fish however were rescue's one had ammonia burns covering his entire body and the other one fungus. They aren't quality fish but I love them just the same, so Murphy's Law the nicest goldfish I have can you guess who he wants to mate with only? The 2 mutts! lol Out come the tank dividers later today. I have a local Mom and Pop shop who are interested in trading for credit if I ever get some babies be it snails or goldfish. Now if I can only get them to comply.
He's pretty good about prices of things but cannot fathom $300 on a singular goldfish. He's building me a giant tank for my basement at the moment with a sump pump so I cannot complain too much. :)
I just keep praying for eggs or clutches...Since I'm totally prepped for both I figure it'll happen when I'm either about to go on vacation or am totally unprepared. :) Seems to be the way it goes.

Do you think this grumbling thing is something they do to think they are in charge???Or to try and convince us??

I know you were just joking, but i'd be happy to pick up a few things for you if you would like. I will be on the lookout for some rare livebearers at the auction for you. :P
For me, i am looking for show quality guppies. I am also taking part in the "junior aquarium beautiful" with is pretty much just an aquascaping competition. For 20 bucks i get fish, a tank, gravel, plants, driftwood, rock, filter, heater, lighting.... all the works. I have to decorate it though, then the judges judge it. Even if my aquascape sucks i still get a 20 dollat ten gallon tank, brand new.

Cool! What a great idea to have an aquascaping competition. Sounds like fun... and what a deal... $20 for all that.

Thanks WP, the more rare Livebearers we distribute across this country, the better the world will be... well the fish world anyway....lol. We could trade & stuff!
Good Show Guppies are one of the most breathtaking fish that I have ever seen. Doug White (DeltaGuppies.com) breeds some stunners. His Red Albino Deltas were one of the few fish I have owned that made me stop and stare every single time I walked by the tank. They're a lot of work to keep both them and their finnage healthy, selective breeding, etc, but man are they stunners. Even people who hate Guppies would buy those if they saw them in person.
That contest is a fantastic idea - good luck!
