This came up in another thread and it has really peaked my interest. Has anyone ever tried to selectively breed their Shrimp for better color, etc? I love doing that sort of thing with fish and snails, but I know nothing of Shrimp genetics.

If anyone would like to try it, I'd love to have us periodically report results with photos if possible, or just discuss the possibilities. I'd like to hear about any genetic info people may already have as well.

Looking forward to the discussion!:)

I plan on culling some of mine, but I'll have to retool my tank so that I can clear out all the plants. Right now its a dense jungle and everything is rooted in the substrate. Plants on rocks and in containers is the plan for the future...

I have found that it is easier to set up a separate tank than it is to cull, but that's not an option for everyone. I just take the nice ones out (with fish and snails) and put them in the selective breeding tank. Seems every population throws extra nice specimens on occasion.

'Pots' reminds me of a post I wanted to make in the Planted Tank section though, thanks!
