National Volunteer Week
Apr. 15 - 21, 2007

If you are a volunteer, interested in volunteering or just want to recognize those in your community or across the country who volunteer, here are some links for you:

Volunteer Canada website info about National Volunteer Week 2007:
http://www.volunteer.ca/volcan/eng/content/nvw/welcome.php

List of links to Volunteer Week Events throughout Canada:
http://www.volunteer.ca/volcan/eng/content/nvw/events.php

The events page has a search option to locate events.

These people give of themselves and their time to help others. Let's take a little time to show them recognition for their efforts. Please feel free to add any events of which you are a part or which your community is hosting to celebrate the volunteers who make so much possible for others.

BC has VolWeb.ca (http://www.volweb.ca). From the site...

VolWeb.ca is a free volunteer recruitment website designed to connect volunteers to event organizers across BC, in support of events ranging from local festivals and community fundraisers to national conferences and international sport tournaments.

Kudos to Volunteers everywhere!

Nursing homes are another great place to volunteer. They always need help. We have volunteers for reception, feeding, and laundry. Not sure if it is the same out there but our high school students have to have 40 hrs of community service to graduate. The home were I work has had a lot of students. My lfs also takes volunteers.

I think that graduating criteria is a great idea! Teaches social responsibility and gives them a reference - excellent!
