Anyone ever seen this stuff? (The red stuff, not the GSP on the left that looks sad because I just moved it).

It's only started growing since I upgraded my lighting; somehow it's survived four or five months of cooking and another five months with extraordinarily lousy lighting. It's soft.

Can you get a close up of the algae? Your GSP is looking pretty good for just being moved. It must like it there.

Unfortunately, I can't get a better shot. That's as close as the non-digital part of the zoom lens on my camera will take me. It's been suggested that I let it grow some more before trying to pin down the species, so I'll add some more pics later if it continues to do well.
The GSP does seem to be very happy in the new location... that pic was taken less than five minutes after moving it. By afternoon, all the polyps were fully extended, something that never happened in the original 'acclimatizing' locale on the bottom of the tank. So far, so good!

New pics! Lots of growth (notice the growth of the GSP, as well!)

Jack (Sirreal on AofA) has ID'd it as a red gracilaria... so I'll have to cultivate it. It's pretty... as nice as most corals, IMO.

It is pretty! I don't know much about marine, but even I can tell that the GSP is settling in well. Nice job  .

It's reaching the point where I have to prune it now... so if anyone wants a piece or two in the Calgary area...::D:
