Scientists sought to discover where Clownfish and vagabond butterflyfish went after the larvae spend weeks or months maturing in the open sea. Surprise... 60% returned to the same reef where they were born. They tagged the larvae by "injecting them (the adults) with a rare, stable barium isotope" which gives the babies "unique chemical signatures".
