Lookin for Limia in all the wrong places ....

I have too many limia tridens to count....

The only thing is I am in Surrey and you are in Calgary. Well, that and they have to grow out some more.

Maybe Melody can give me some shipping tips......

I am sending a box to Blaine next week. If sellers want to arrange things through him and drop them off to me (sorry, I don't drive) then I'd be happy to add them to his box.

Gotta work together on such things - I want to see these Wild-types distributed and we're all friends :) . Speaking of which, I should mention that I've dealt with Blaine before and I'm dealing with him now - awesome buyer, no worries.

My babies are still babies... The first batch are about a month and a half old, the second batch are about 3 weeks old. Did I mention mom is about to pop?

I was considering selling the vittata as they aren't doing much of anything right now, but hubby likes them so I think that may be a no go.

The first batch are old enough to sex, but I am not sure about shipping them that young. Me thinks I had better wait a bit.

Melody, I sent off a PM to Snake eater over at BCaquaria, not sure if I/we will here back from him.

From the discussion this post generated, a good question would be, How mature should a fish be before it can be safely shipped ?

It's a question I certainly should know the answer to, I'm fairly certain that the day will come when someone asks me to ship to them.

Depends on the fish I'm sure, but the younger they are the better they ship over all. They have to be big enough to handle the fasting & stress as a precaution, but that's about it.

As an example, fry arrive in bags of adult fish all the time with no more losses than one would expect from any brood (adults rarely eat the young while in transit).

They're tough. Over and above that, you have far less waste, they require less water and oxygen, etc. They barely seem to notice....lol....whereas big fish can be skittish for weeks after shipping.

Whatever Ms. Fishenthusiast wants to do is up to her own comfort level with it of course, I'm just speaking in general terms. :)

Hey Melody, looks like no limias from snake eater, not interested in shipping or dropping the fish with you.

Hey Fishenthusiast,

If you decide to part with either variety in the future, keep me in mind pls.

Good fish are hard to find !

Anyone else ?

Mel has almost got me convinced to send you some babies. My only obstacle now is getting them to her house. Neither of us have cars.

You know, we could save all the shipping problems if you just drive over here and pick them up:laugh: . It's only a 12 hour drive or so. Actually a bunch of people from my work just flew to Calgary today, too bad I didn't think of it, I could have given them the fish to bring to you. :nah:

Belive it or not, I have, on a couple of occasions, seriously considered jumping in the wagon and heading for the Lower Mainland to take a tour of the fish stores, breeders and sellers/traders in the area.

ROFL Methinks the lovely Mrs. Blaine might put her foot down if you do that. She would probably make you stop hanging out with us too. :Whip:
