I don't even know about half of the Oddballs I bet, since most are huge or aggressive it seems. Not all of the Oddballs are nasties though! Here's a few community oddballs suggested by TFH mag. (http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/pfk/pages/show_article.php?article_id=487)

Even some of the common fish are odd to look at, like the Hatchet Fish. I guess in keeping with the Livebearer theme that is my passion, I'd say one of the oddest oddballs are the Anableps or 'Four-eyed Fish':

Which of the Oddballs that you know are the most odd? I'll have fun looking them up.

That's cool... one never tends to think of the oddballs that we might include in a community tank. I think the Leopard Bush Fish is really cool but I definitely wouldn't be able to keep him with my platies... they'd be dinner. Basically the concern is that anything small enough to fit in the mouth of a Leopard Bush Fish will be hunted down for dinner.:wideeyed:

As they say however, Discus, Bolivian Rams, Sailfin Plecos and Clown Loaches, Pearl Gouramis and Siamese Flying Fox all are compatible.

Some pics and info about this oddball can be found here (http://wetpetz.com/leopardbushfish.htm).

I have a number of Ctenopoma species, including 8 C. acutirostre....very cool fish.

Melody, we have some nice, fat Anableps at the shop right now (sadly 4 males and a single female)....always a fave of mine, and not insanely difficult to spawn.

I wish I had room for them, but I'm afraid someone else will have to take care of the aggressive Livebearers  . Someone like YOU Christian!

If you want to get odd:

Phractolaemus ansorgii

Amia calva

Neoceratodus forsteri

Trichomycterus spelaeus

Planiloricaria cryptodon

Orthosternarchus tamandua

...and thats just some of the freshwater ones...the marine ones get really bizarre.

My Ctenopoma acutirostre (leopard spotted perch) is approx 3 years old. It's big and lives with my blood parrots in the 108 gallon tank. They're very impressive when they yawn or stretch their mouths out. :)

This is an old picture...really doesn't do Ducky (short for ugly duckling when it was a baby) justice.

He's cute... it would be neat (but I guess almost impossible) to capture the moment when he 'yawns'.

I *wish* I could get a shot of him doing that. The side of his mouth look almost transparent when he does it.

Very cool when you see it.
