Flitting around here trying to make useful conversation....lol. I like conversations I can learn from so I'm concentrating on that. Plants I know very little about.

Therefore my faves are boring....lol. I love the various Anubias because they're versatile and I've yet to kill one. It also has a very classy, elegant look to it. I also love Java Moss - it looks cool and its practical for fry. The fish like to lay on it too. Tough to keep clean but other than that, I like it.

Tell me, what is your fave aquarium plant in the whooooooooooole world? Why is it your fave? Do you like the more challenging plants or those that can be grown by complete brown thumbs like me?

My favorite plant (only because not only have I not been able to kill it but have actually been able to take cuttings and root new little plantlets from it) ihttp://www.plantgeek.net/images/blank.gifs:
Giant Hygro ( (http://www.plantgeek.net/plantguide_viewer.php?id=134)Hygrophila corymbosa v. 'Siamensis') (http://www.plantgeek.net/plantguide_viewer.php?id=134). Member mixixe helped me ID it (I had bought it initially when got back into fishkeeping and set up my first tank... and of course had never written down its name. ) It is an easy plant and seems to grow regardless of the amount of lighting, care or lack thereof. (It does grow faster with better lighting.) Ya gotta love a plant like that!

There's a beautiful Madagascar Lace Plant at Roger's in Surrey that I want. Too bad I don't have a tank big enough for it... or enough light... or enough CO2...

Gotta love windelov java fern. Grows in any conditions, really hard to kill, doesn't get a coating of algae, and it locks onto whatever you tie it to. And best of all, once it has reached maturity it pups and little mini plants with roots and all are ready for the plucking. Did I mention it's pretty ?

That probably goes for any java fern though, anyone have the narrow leaf version? Phillipine I think it might be called...

I love my crypts, no matter what and who I subject them to they are still thriving. I love the look of frogbit and duckweed but its inhaled faster then I can admire it most of the time. I love riccia but have only seen it in Big Al's and they wanted $30 for it. I passed. I love bananna plants as well...Unfortunately for me so do my goldfish. :( For now my all time favorite plants have to be the giant plastic bamboo one's in my snail tank. Why you ask? Because I can't kill it. :) The snails really seem to like crawling through their plastic jungle as well. :)

Hard pressed to name a favourite, my plants serve a function but I don't go nuts over them. I have 3 varieties of java fern, so I guess by default java ferns. I really like anubias coffeefolia though - just may be my favourite except it's not in any of my tanks and too cheap to spend $$ on them.

Non aquarium plants now we're chatting, I like carnivourous species Cobra Lilies, Sundews, Pitcher plants, Venus fly-traps...like to start that up again.

With your green thumb you probably have a zillion healthy little plantlets by now propagated from the Giant Hygro you got from me. So it
s doing well I assume? I love to share plants with people who actually have a talent for growing them... mine grow in spite of me... not becuase of anything I do.

Google turned up much variance in the results - any pic's? Are they difficult? I'm a curious little thing  .

Always great to have club members who are totally into an aspect of the hobby - it sure makes for more interesting auctions.

I agree! I wonder if that's what Blaine has on his driftwood in the tank pic's he posted? Looks much like it to my uneducated eye anyway.

Is that ever cool looking! It would definitly bring a neat texture to the tank, but its not overpowering enough to distract the eye too much. Perfect!

I can't imagine asking for it in a store though...lol...I'd have to call you for the correct pronounciation.
