Xiphophorus nezahualcoyotl
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/canadiansinternetdotcom/MM-NezzieSwordtail-1.jpg
{Young adult male Nezzie}
Common name: Nezzie Swordtail, Mountain Swordtail
Scientific name: Xiphophorus nezahualcoyotl
Family: Poeciliidae
Origin: San Luis Potosi, Mexico
Adult size: 5cm (males without sword) - 6cm (females)
Tank Specs:
Minimum Tank Size: 10G
Water Parameters (PH/GH/KH): pH: 7-7.5
Temperature: 19-26c
Special Requirements: Good current.Suitable Tankmates: Most community fish of comparable size.
Minimum Group Size: N/A
Diet: Omnivore
Sexing: Males have a gonopodium & sword extension.
Breeding and Reproduction: Livebearers. Brood size 25-100.
Notes: Nezzie Swordtails have been around for awhile, but they're still not commonly seen in the hobby. They are originally from fast-flowing mountain streams & creeks in Mexico, and therefore appreciate some current and somewhat cooler water.
This relatively small swordtail is a stunner, with a reasonably high, rounded dorsal, yellow & black finnage and beautiful pastel shades of blue, green & mauve on the body. They are a close relative of the more famous 'Monty' Swordtail.
I'll add better pic's later.:smile:
