Another challenge with this new job of mine is getting enough food into my fry. I'm doing the following:

Applesnails to produce infusoria
Plants to 'house' the infusoria & encourage them to multiply, but not too many since I can't seem to keep them alive for long....lol.
I feed once in the morning and once at night, but could probably get two feedings into the evening/night if I remember.
I want to install better lighting to encourage algae growth.
Small piece of Bottom Bites in the AM for the larger fry/adults as they stay stable in the water all day.My challenge in there is getting one more feeding into them during the day, preferrably around 2PM. There's little sense in plugging them full of food when I'm home because they can only utilize so much anyway. I am considering automatic feeders but that seems a tad extreme. If I do go that route, I need something that can handle fine-grind foods if possible.

Any suggestions? I've had fry that weren't fed enough before and they take forever to grow out so I'd rather keep the food coming if I can.

what time does your sweet boy get home from school?
if he's home maybe a slight bump in allowance for doing a mid day feed?

Why did I not think of that? LOL I must be tired from all of this work nonsense. That's a great idea! He knows how to feed them and he's very responsible... <slapping forehead and rolling eyes @ self> Thanks Connie!

Well he's done a good job so far. Now if I could just get him as enthusiastic about emptying the dishwasher....

As long as he's doing a good job with the fry, you're doing fine. Good luck getting him to unload the dishwasher.  My kids had been used to (and griped about) washing dishes (by hand). So I figured when we got a dishwasher they would be thrilled and there'd be no hassle to get them to load/unload it.:twitcy: Boy was I delusional or what?

Oh he does it, I run a tight ship, but he is having a hard time adjusting. He does what he's told though and knows better than to grumble - I just see the look on his face. If he grumbles, he gets something to grumble about...lol...he knows better now.

He's a good kid. And you working outside of the home is a big adjustment to both of you. It takes a while to get things into a new routine. The fish probably can't figure out why it's so quiet around there during the day. They're probably all wondering 'where'd she go????'
