Sexing such prolific creatures is a major consideration. This family includes the commonly seen Livebearers: Guppies, Swordtails, Platy's & Mollies.

I wrote/illustrated an information sheet for Pacific Aquatics that will assist people in sexing these Livebearers. I thought I would post it here for your quick reference as well:

Oh great! I do have a male and female mollies. I told people when i bought fish i didn't want babies...now what?:wideeyed:

The only real way to ensure no fry is to keep males only. Females are often prehit when you get them (they can store sperm for months). If a recent purchase, see if the store will exchange the female for a male.
