I've read somewhere or other than the Cherry Red Shrimp can revert to brown (wild). I have one that's more of a wine red colour - darker red than the rest by a mile. However, she's a big girl and the colour is solid, indicating to me that she is older so maybe that's just the colour that some of them go? There's also a few that have a definite blue tone.

I'm wondering if I should be doing some culling. Its a nice enough shade but I don't want it to get more and more brown as they breed.

I suppose that it is possible, but after 800+ baby cherry shrimp, I have yet to see a brown one.

Its a feasible guess, but that's all he's doing by the sounds of things...lol. The theory in this case makes sense as I've seen blue in the new shipment of them.

Wild reversion of fancy strains is based on a whole different set of criteria that he'd do well to consider if he wants to complete the article. Inbred fancy Guppies are the most common example. He's also not considering the fact that many colour mutations involve recessive genes which are consequently easy to lose or realistically 'taken over' by dominants. That arguement could also be used for his theory of course. Culling is still the answer either way.

Its a good article though, and its probably the case here, thanks!
