I was at a pet store with a friend today and we both saw this incredibly huge catfish in a bucket that just fit it, with a internal filter running. This cat was 2 feet long when we eyeballed it. I asked the fish guy how much the fish costs because I was curious. He said free, but he will charge me 10 bucks for packaging. hmm...but the thing that worried me was when I told him i was just curious, I didn't want it and he started to tell me no one wants that fish so he might just kill it! ... so I dunno... a pet store can't really purposely murder a fish can they?

If they can't find a home for it, I would say that euthanizing using a humane method would be the preferrable course of action, as compared to say.... a bucket.

So how about we get proactive? Would you be willing to tell people where the store is if they PM you? Maybe we could find it a good home. If you don't want them to contact you, you are welcome to send the store name to me and I'll handle the enquiries.

OR you could list it in the Classifieds as a "Spotted: Free large Catfish" or the like.

I can understand your concern upon seeing something like that. Thanks for bringing it to our attention :) .

Yes ppl can certainly pm me for location. I keep thinking about that catfish because I have one at home just like it, but it's not 2 feet long! My friend also told me she was at the petstore before and the same fish guy caught a fish, and she said it had torn fins, and he just dumped the live fish right into the garbage! ... it's a bit worrisome.

Ah, I understand your concern even more then. Even if a person can bring themselves to do that, common business sense should tell him not to do it in front of a customer. It says a lot about how well the fish are cared for in general... he should have his license yanked, among other things  .

Try doing that to an injured bunny and the whole Country would be in an uproar.
