Of course, with platys, I always have fry and juvies at various ages. However, I have noticed that I normally tend to get a lot more female fry than males and was curious as to why. Just wondering if anyone had had a similar experience. Any thoughts on the subject?

There are those that say that temp and/or pH can effect ratios. I don't know if it has ever been tested on a scientific large scale, but some swear by it. Since you play with your pH to keep the snails happy, maybe its influencing things. You could always try a pair in another tank with a lower pH just for fun.:)

As for experiencing it, I never noticed, to tell you the truth. I always have so many breeding I just scoop fry and grow 'em out. Then I eat 'em.
