I've lost my mind in the lfs and couldn't control myself today...So now I have some new sterbai and albino cory's..I have several empty tanks they could go into so I'm wondering how many cory's per gallon ? All of the tanks are cycled and filtered..The LFS said one cory per gallon but I stopped listening to them a long time ago. I have an empty 10 gallon planted tank I'd love to put them in but I want to make sure they'll be enough room for them. The rest can go into a 48 with the snails who will be soooo thrilled they LOVE the cory's....:nah:
I have julies, panda's, sterbai's, green/golds and now albino's. They are just the cutest little things ever.

I'd say for once they're guessed right...lol. Cory's can and do travel around the tank, but I find that mine are usually on the bottom or playing up and down the glass, so they don't take a lot of swimming space up. They also work for their keep, cleaning as much, if not more, than what they produce.
That's my view on it anyway. If I based it on size and girth/depth, I might give them a little more but I don't think they need it, especially if the tank is over 10G's.

in a ten gallon I like to max out at around 8 corys or so, depending on species.. I feel they just get too crowded once there are any more then that
