What are you using for substrate in your breeding tanks?

Mine just have normal aquarium gravel. Nothing special.

They seem to be happy with it.

Mine have always had regular size gravel, but I'm not right into breeding them so there could be a recommendation there that I'm not aware of. I do know that they aren't supposed to be in bare-bottom tanks because they can't get a grip and slide all over the place.

I can vouch for the no bare-bottom. Mine were NOT happy when I did that to them.

I use black aquarium gravel. Dark is good as, in the case of the cherries, intesify there colours as they will try to blend in to the substrate.

Just black Marina gravel.

I use bare bottom, gravel, leaf litter , all depend of the shrimp and the effect you want.
