I just found a bunch of Krib eggs under s rock in my tank, Should I leave it there? Parents are guarding it - or should I move the rock & Eggs into a breeder net?
I really want them to survive, but there are other Golden Rams and a few other kribs in the 20 gallon tank who I am afraid will eat them!
Thanks in advance!!!!! ::D:

LOL Well so are most common Livebearers, but I'm still thrilled to find fry even after eons of breeding them. Congrat's!
I believe Kribs look after their own and do it so well that you'll soon be overrun....lol...however, I've never bred them so take that at face value.

Yes Kribs tend to be very good parents. I would be more concerned for the other inhabitants in the tank. I have had a pair of Krib parents kill several inhabitants when they felt their young ones were threatened.

I've heard that too, now that you mention it :wideeyed: .

 Ohhhhh Really? Uh oh.......Maybe I should put up a tank divider? I really don't want anyone dying from this!!
To be honest I actually thought I had three females as they are all roughly the same size!

Like aaron said, they can and will kill other fish if they get too close!
Other than that, they will take good care of the fry once they hatch!
Really easy to breed also!

Well I just went and looked again this morning and trhey are GONE!! :err: I guess they must have been eaten? Which is weird cause both parents were guarding them!
They definetly didn't hatch cause mommy & daddy are still guarding the cave & No babies inside!

What will happen with kribs is if there are too many predators around, and they feel they cannot guard the young from all the danger, they will eat the eggs!

Awwww sorry to hear the dissapointing news. I was so excited when I had cory eggs but they were infertile and the little buggers are not producing at the moment. At least you know they are ready and hopefully if you can rearrange a few fish you'll be up to your eyeballs in babies sometime soon! :)

Sorry to hear about the eggs. Hopefully once you rearrange fishes, you'll have so many fry you won't know what to do with them all. Fingers crossed here for you.

MORE EGGS!!!!!! It took from the time I first posted this until last night for them to do the deed but there are eggs now! I had four kribs in there 1 male and 3 lovely ladies, you should see hte size of my male he is HUGE!!! nobody believed me he was a Krib until they saw the eggs!
I now took out the other two females so it's just the male & Female in there! I am hoping for better luck this time!!

Congratst with the eggs and good luck. I have had my German Blue Rams lay twice and loose them... so broke down and bought a 40gallon breeder tank for just such occasions now.

Love to hear how they do... Never had Kribs and always thought they were a bit more agressive than they actually are. Are they anything like Rams that sort of learn how to better act as parents as they have more and more litters?

Kribs tend to be better at it than Rams. For me it has never taken any more than a couple batches of eggs to get it right.
