There I am at the LFS getting some calcium sand as part of a snail experiment..And of course I have to look at the fish section for new cories. At the same time this little boy and his mother are looking at the tanks as well...Wouldn't you know I spot a tank that says c. juli and there are 3 little guys in a completely bare tank cowering in the corner. :( The kid is begging his mother for them as I'm thinking do I feel like paying $12.99 a piece for juli's that are prolly not juli's? And I thought nahhh Then mother says oh all right lets go find a bowl....A bowl?? I'm anti bowl because of all the poor goldies thrown into bowls. So of course being the sucker, here they are. Worse case scenario my 3 lone c. trilineatus will finally have buddies.

So are they c. trilineatus or juli's? Any idea of the sex's??? I can't even sex my apple snails yet forget about cories.

P.S.
Yes I am aware that I have no self control.

When I shop for Cory's I use a little trick if I can't sex them. I get the smallest and the largest in the tank - I usually end up with both sexes then. So far it hasn't failed me anyways.

These were the only 3 in the tank unfortunately...But I do have 3 more that are all the same darn size as well..... 6 males??? gah!

Its not fool-proof - works best when they're young. Mr. Madattiver could probably give you something more definite. Don't know where that guy has been hiding  ...

I am sorry to say that these guys you have are one of the harder species to actually sex as the males and females look pretty close to the same. I have a group of 7 of these myself that I have had for a good part of 3 years and I still have no clue who is a guy and who is a girl. The only way I think I will be able to tell is when one has an egg in her ventrals and the other is chasing her.

I found one lone one in a pleco tank last night for $2.99 at BA's then again they usually give me a break since I do trades and am always in there. This one's smaller so I have 7 now myself and I've seen them shoaling in groups of around 10 and they look so happy so I'm hoping to find 3 females. Have they ever spawned for you?

I watched my peppereds spawing early this morning and it was pretty cool, there weren't many eggs though that I can see anyways and what I did see they ate. But they did seem like a bit of a trigger as there was a lot of chasing. I got a few pictures of the female holding her eggs which I'll post later. Thanks for the advice.

18??????? :swoon:

 Man I'm jealous! Here I'm lucky if I see peppered, and c.trilineatus usually sells out within one day as of shipment..Mainly I see green and golds and albino's which I have as well. The lfs all sell c.tril's as juli' which gets old but what can you do? Except in the Big A's near me the fish guys there are pretty decent. And when they don't know something they are pretty receptive and interested in learning something new.

Can you suggest anyone in Ontario/Canada in general that breeds/ships? I've posted a few ad's but so far no dice.

trust me.. it is the same here.. almost all my fish I have came from out of town orders or other hobbiests throughout the years. I am lucky to find anything beyond paleatus, aeneus, panda or trilineatus here as well.

btw.. I just got 5 corydoras loxozonus and 6 corydoras davidsandsi sent to me the other day.. ::D:

[Taxi driver]Are you talkin' to me? [/Taxi Driver]

There's even a sign as you drive into New York City from Jersey that the former Mayor had created...

It says

Welcome to New York

God I love Juliani! The man seriously needs to run for President.

I can't imagine what you'll sound like in five years - combo of Canuck and NY accents.

Know what I'm sayin' eh?
