So I picked up 3 new green golds today, they are in a cycled QT with pristine water params. I just noticed a whole lot of flashing, flicking and rubbing. Ugh...I'd like to use parasite clear as it is a blanket treatment as it eradicates 7 different types of internal and external parasites. Yadda yadda yadda

Meds on hand...

Parasite Clear
Praziquantel Powder (Prazi Pond)-which I fear would be too strong
Ethromaycn
Maracyn 1 & 2
Aquarium Salt

If I go with salt how much salt?
If I go with parasite clear do I half the dosage? The LFS said pc was safe but I'm not the most trusting soul when it comes to LFS employee's.

Lastly I used my python on both tanks without thinking and may have cross contaminated my 90 gallon that also has pleco's. :(

Thanks!

The salt dose should be on the box - it differs from brand to brand.

I only use Rid Ich+, but any general parasite med like Parasite Clear should tackle it. I wouldn't worry about halfing the dose with Cory's, but you can start out that way if you're worried - better safe than sorry!

You can definitly pass parasites between tanks with a python, but it may never establish itself if the fish are in good shape. You could always dose the salt in both tanks just in case.

Good luck!

I'm an idjit upon closer inspection they are spawning or were until I turned on the light. :wideeyed:

Can you use salt with pleco's though? No dosage on salt as I had to put it into ziplocks after my basement flooded for the gazillionth time and the house became humidity central.

Do you know which brand it is? Is it the large chunks or fine salt? I've used salt with my BN's and a Rubberlip, but I don't keep anything delicate so were I you I'd wait until someone with other Plecos chimes in.

Hopefully a false alarm anyways  .

I think they are messing with me...Everyone in the 90 seems okay they are spawning/eating eggs at moment as well..Rotten fish...I have to get some java moss! Hmmmm Doug at Delta Guppies has java moss  I think I may hold out for the bronzes though...Allthough those albino topaz's look stunning...I have to stop looking at fish sites!!!

Ya'll left this in marine ER you know - can't get good help these days :Neener: .
:NoSass:

Its pretty bad when I order from a breeder and I'm glad he's sold out of half the fish, because I'd never make up my mind if he had them all... or I'd go broke trying.
