Hey Guys,

I'm wondering where everyone purchases their shipping supplies from, some of my goldies have finally spawned!!! It'll be awhile before I have large enough babies but I figured I'd get a jump start. So far when I do a search I come up with companies in England and The States. I'm looking for hot packs, cold packs, shipping bags etc.

Also where the heck do you guys find all of your boxes? So far the husbo is raiding his office but I find it a bit challenging at times to get the right sized one's. If anyone has any links where I could find cold/hot packs in Canada I'd appreciate it.

Boxes: I save boxes I get. If I don't have or can't find used ones the right size, I get them at Staples or Office Depot.
Heat packs? Sorry, I don't know of any Canadian Sources.

For boxes I do the same as Jay, I keep whatever comes in!
Grocery stores might be a good source for used boxes.

Your local post office sells some, but are a bit on the expensive side!

Cold paks, Wal-Mart has them, or any other store for that matter! I use Ice-Paks, the ones with the blue stuff inside. Some dollar stores have them too.

Heat Paks, well, Wal-Mart and the sort might have some in the sporting department as winter hand warmers.

Bags, your local pet store has some, just have to try to get them to sell you some!
Also, you can get some breathing bags online in Canada for fish.

I get most of mine from the US - Jehmco. The warmers I've only found up to 12 hours locally, at the Canadian Tire.

For boxes, try your Vet, the drug stores, Doctor's Offices, Universities, etc - they all get real styro shipping boxes with shipments and hate to throw them out!

That's awesome news on the Goldies Kat!

Just thought of this... try your local fish store!!
Not the one selling you your nice tropical fish, but the one selling the food fish, lobsters, crabs and others of the sort!

People that have shipped live animals to me have used styrofoam pink and cut it to match the box dimensions.

Oh I have that down to a science... Or I'd like to think I do. I cut foam for the last few orders I had with a table saw to get precise measurements.

The sick thing is I don't know how many will survive, and I already want to keep them all. Kinda why I had so many snails.

LOL Yes and I best move some this weekend because I've already done several waterchanges this week. It gives me a chance to look at them though, and they really are a pretty bunch, so I don't mind so much.

I'm doing the same with the remaining one's I have left. I don't have as many as you anymore thankfully but I am trading the rest for some CRS shrimp and a tank stand. And I have good news I have 3 remaining bee's rather then 2...Now I just pray they'll breed.

A good source for thin styrofoam to line boxes with is a frame store or an electronics store. They throw the stuff out and are glad to get rid of it! I also get some from a local appliance store.
Boxes - go to a small store and ask for empty boxes, they are usually glad to give them to you. I have gone to shipping suppliers for boxes but they get expensive when you have to pay 1-2 dollars for each one.
Heat packs, I sell them on my site - 40, 60, and 72 hour ones. I buy them in bulk and sell them for enough to cover my costs of getting them and what I have to pay to have them shipped to me. I sell them mostly to people that are shipping snails and fish.
hope that helps you.
