Longfinned Albino BN's update(Mel,Jordonsmom& Kat)

Hey guys,
We finally have babies. Fingers crossed. I have counted up to ten, so far. This is their 3rd batch, but have never had very many. First batch totally dissappeared ( community tank I thinking my Angel was the guilty party) second moved dad and eggs to different tank babies emerged then started dissappearing. This happened once with my shortfinned. Had to move a tank, when dad had just freed a batch and they all dissappeared overnight.
I moved mom to a different tank awhile ago with just snails and a different male, but nothing happened. Then I decided to put her old partner into the tank and remove the male she did not like. They spawned shortly after that, so I assumed they were happy to be back together. Now hopefully mom and dad are totatly comfy in this tank and all these guys will survive. I am hoping there are more but are hard to see right now in there if they are sitting still.

I have two other pairs one of shortfinned pure albinos (the one that ate the babies when moved tank) and another pair: female pure albino and male albino not pure(give off brown babies). Both these pairs breed like crazy except for that one incident have been extremely easy. Spawn, hatch take two weeks off and then back at it again. So this pair of longfinns has really frustrated me. Mel knows how long it has taken as she has been waiting for some of these guys since last fall I believe.

Wow, Pam, congrats!! The pleco marriage counsellor has been working a lot of overtime lately. Everyone seems to be get pleco eggs and fry! But finally, the longfinned pleco counsellor gave a stern lecture and it worked on your two. LOL

Can't wait to see some pics in awhile of them. And this could the start of a long run of pleco spawns and fry for you, wouldn't that be great?!!

I've got plecos everywhere, albinos , short fins, long fins and brown short fins. but not in my dreams yet. Of course everything is hatching cause I am going on holidays. Had two clutches of brigs Kat send me hatch too. Plus already had a clutch of haustrams hatch out a couple of weeks ago.

Believe me... just start planning your vacation and they will lay eggs. Probably right before you go so that they will hatch and become free swimming when you are out of town... but they will lay them

Lastest update, bad news. Returned home on Sat to find only three left. Water conditions were good and did a big water change before I left. They had plenty of food, my friend was checking them everyday. So I am thinking Dad ate them again or mom. I thought about separating them, but wanted to wait til I got home to do it, so my girlfriend would not have to deal with another tank while I was gone. I feel really awful, that I don't have enough to send anyone and hope you will be able to find some elsewhere. The next batch I will be separating as soon as they are out in the open. My apologies to those that really wanted some of these little guys.

Thanks Kat. It was a bummer. I kept going down and checking the tank. Then later on in the evening did a water change and removed everything just in case they were hiding, but no. The three that are left are now in nursery tank with the baby brigs from your clutches. Oh and I almost forgot the last clutch hatched 4 for 4, so pretty soon I will be over run with brigs. Still over run with spixis. Which is good the petstore is selling them at least 40 every week or two. So I am sure they will be able to use the brigs too. I have never seen spixis go that fast here.

Wild-caught albinos? Its very rare to see one albino in the wild, let alone a bunch. Methinks I'd question that before buying them.

That superstition has been around for years...lol...dunno where it came from, but I couldn't be bothered. My Plecos seem to be none the worse off for my laziness. :laugh:
