View Full Version : My new neighbors across the street...

Have two new dogs...One large one with a booming bark that echos through the neighborhood and one small one that yips and yaps/screeches constantly. :SomebodyShootMe:
They have left them outside for the past two days and all they do is bark and bark and bark. It would be one thing if they weren't home and didn't notice, but they've been home all day.
Gah I hate confrontation with neighbours, call me selfish but I like keeping my windows open in the Summer.
Just had to rant for a moment.

They leave the dogs outside constantly? That is not right! I would be curious as to the water and food situation of the dogs. I do believe the Toronto Humane Society frons on that to the point of removing the animals in extreme cases. Call THS and have them visit the neighbours.

I did take a peek last night and they had bowls out for them, the don't look abused or malnourished in any way. And it hasn't been extremely hot at all. The only thing that's seems to be suffering at the moment are my ears. I'll deal with it until monday I guess and ask the housing authority to speak to them about it. I'm sure I'm not the only one ripping my hair out.

That is totally self-centered. If they want to do that they can move to isolated country, not where there are neighbours everywhere. Call the other neighbours - I'm betting they're just as annoyed as you are.
Hopefully they're dog-sitting.
How can you NOT know that would bug people?

The worst is, its a split 2 family house, and both sides are occupied. If I had to share the house with them, I would have killed them by now.

I have a dog who barks at the stupid rabbits and it bothers me! But I go out to stop the noise, usually by chasing away the rabbit. I can't stand dogs that bark, especially when it's mine.

I don't mind when dogs bark, its not their fault. Passing birds, squirrels etc. What I do mind is dogs barking at all hours of the morning, noon and night. Especially when their owers are at home. The Cluess Family and I are going to have a chat tommorrow if this goes on into the night again.

That depends on who you were asking I'm thinking...Those weird tanks I was posting about a few days ago, we brought them outside into our yard so I could pp/disenfect etc. Along with 2 10 gallons that I put on the side of our house next to the hose so I could soak some driftwood in them. I go inside for a minute and I see someone from my kitchen window walk into my yard. I go back outside its my neighbor with her hands on one of my 10 gallons as if she was going to pour the water out of it. I look her and say Can I help you? She gets startled and says ohhhhh I thought you were throwing these out. I don't buy that for a minute, it was in my back yard which because its a military base has no fences so we can see into one anothers yard sitting on two by fours with driftwood weighted down and the hose sitting inside it. In an irritated voice, I said garbage is left out on the curb not in people's back yards. I couldn't believe the actual nerve. And as she was walking away I said...By the way since you must work nights and aren't home to notice your dogs are barking all night long and for most of the day since you moved here, please do something about it. She got snippy and said it was too dam* bad. I was polite the whole time even though I wanted to choke her. And said okay I asked nicely, if you won't do anything about then I will. She said something else I won't repeat and as she walked away, I told her it would be a good idea to stay out of my yard as well. More cursing and she'll do what she wants with her dogs yadda yadda. They are out right now barking in the rain. I called the humane society and I'll contact housing tommorrow. Here Housing will actually fine you per day for things like that. Its really not how I wanted to meet my new neighbor but she chose the direction that it went in and I wasn't about to be walked over.
Never in my lifetime would I take upon myself to remove something from someone's back yard and yes I could have been nicer but since they moved here its been obvious they have no respect for anyone. I've seen tanks left out on the curb and I've still knocked on the homeowners door asking if it would be okay for me to take it. Great role model for her kids who were both standing in my driveway, I felt bad for them; they looked horrified.

OMG ! Thats horrible !
To be forced into that kind of confrontation must have been awfull ! I dont know what I would have done, seeing someone in my backyard about to dump out a tank ! Sheesh.... and then saying she'll do what she wants with her dogs !!:wideeyed:
I would get your other neighbours involved if you can, the more you have on your side the better. Especially if you know them and are friends with some of them... :)
Barking dogs are the worse ! I hollar at mine and make them stop when they bark at dogs walking by my house, I feel bad about it, and would NEVER allow them to bark non-stop !! We have neighbours around us though who have done this... and who my hubby eventually got the point across to that we did not like all the barking ! LOL! That worked :)
I feel so bad for you and the situation you are forced into !! Some people have no respect or care in the world for other peoples feelings.... good luck !! Hope you get somewhere with the housing authority and humane society...

Good for you! Maybe you'll make them miserable enough that they move. I'd video tape it.
You could just go get the dogs. After all, if they're in the yard they must be giving them away.

If you call the MP's they should also pay your neighbor a visit if they're in MQ's. Also.. just wondering. How far can your hose shoot water??? It's not abusive but gets the point across when a dog won't stop barking... or maybe for a neighbor who needs a muzzle.....:wideeyed: (I didn't just say that)

Theres no way you should have to put up with that.
My suggestion is to put something really tempting in your yard, and then videotape the ***** stealing it. Have her put away for a while!

Unfortunately we don't have MP's or any type of security here. Its every person for themselves. I don't know what it is with that house, the last person that was in the house...Ugh I just about threw roses after the moving trucks when they left along with the rest of the neighbourhood lol. Maybe its cursed! :twitcy: But I will say there are no dogs outside nor do I hear barking...Just the sweet sweet sounds of fire alarms and ambulances. Ahhhhhh Toronto traffic. :SomebodyShootMe:

I know what you mean. Especially since I JUST went away for two days. My tenant took care of my fish and I come home to a dead clown loach ( a new one):( . The LFS replaced him for me , but I was really sad. He was so cute. You know how the posting thing goes though. They give you a years warning that you MIGHT get the posting and tell you yes or no a week before your posting date. Then you have one week to pack and move:rolleyes: It would be really nice to be closer to family and friends again. We have no family out here and most haven't even met Declan yet. My family or Shawn's. I'm holding my breath and crossing my fingers.

Pablo and wtac on there... I am heading off to NYC on the 22nd... but since it is for only the weekend I figure I will give them a good feeding the day I leave and a 50% water change the night before I leave... that way they should be fine till I get back on Monday... it is the 10 day vacation in October that I will have to hire one of them as there isn't that many people that I would trust that I know to come over and feed the fish.

Okay you guys do come in handy once in awhile for wiring etc. but still don't think it is fair that I have 2 tanks in the laundry room and 4 in the DRoom and hubby has a big insulated heated 2.5 car plus two sheds that would be perfect for a fish room. I could have all my tanks in one room plus add more. He even has the hot water to the outside of the house so he can use it in his garage. You just not big on sharing.

Update...
This morning I just woke up wrong...In one of the foulest moods I've ever been in. Why you ask? The dog is back outside howling and did so for most of the night. I finally had enough, I marched over there with a bucket full of icewater for the dog since it was 33 here today. The poor thing was chained to the front of the house, no shade no food or water. Knocked on the door repeatedly even though I could hear that they were home no one would answer. I went home and called Animal Services and they came and got the dog finally saying multiple people had called. I hope they don't give him back but I'm not sure how it works. Poor thing, no one deserves to be treated like that.
