I had 4 panda's in my 20 gal with about 9 fry for a few months and I NEVER saw them. They always hid behind a large clump of java fern planted in the back corner. A few days ago I pulled everything out of that tank and relocated all of the fish so that I could re aquascape the tank. The 4 panda cories are currently housed in a 25 gal (formerly the drop tank) all by themselves and boy are they loving it. Last night for the first time ever, I noticed them "glass dancing" right out in the open, despite the numerous hiding spots they have.

I've heard / read that it's a lot harder to spawn these guys than your typical cory. I've had really good luck with my cory's so far, with the exception of my Albino's which are still quite young. Should I start looking for eggs??? I've been told they only spawn in java moss... is that right???

Panda's are one of my favorite cories. So far my peppered & paleatus were the only cories that spawned but neither set of eggs were viable. Least it means they're ready, many suggest a large water change and when readding the water make it a few degrees cooler. But as I said no fry for me yet, but I'm sure our cory experts will tell you better then I can. Sure hope you get some panda fry!

actually pandas are one of the easier ones to spawn and will do so without any trigger required.. and will continue to do so depositing eggs almost daily.

I would reccomend you add a floating spawning mop to the tank. pandas like to hide their eggs and if there is moss/mop present, they will deposit almost all the eggs within this. The mop just makes it easier to remove the eggs without disturbing the tank too much.

How to Make a Spawning Mop (http://www.aquarticles.com/articles/breeding/Leong_Spawning_Mop.html)

Many moons ago I spawned Pandas, and I've heard of several accidental spawnings. I'm sure they'll go for it when they're ready. I did find that they grow slow, so maybe they're not mature or they're all one sex.

wuhoooo , so I did a large water change this morning in that tank and dropped the temp 2 degrees. I wasn't too worried about temp drop as they're in that tank alone. I also fed them brine shrimp. When I came home this afternoon , I had eggs on a big leaf. I think they're called amazon sword... or something like that. Long single stalk with one big waxy looking leaf. I cut it off and put it in the nursery tank but they all look to be infertile.. maybe next time. But they're ready!!!!:red_dance: :Celebrate:

:pompom: Congrats! They are on the right course it sounds like. Done it once, will happen again. Can't wait to see what panda cory fry look like, Kristy.

Congrats... off to a good start from the sounds of it. Hopefully, you'll get some fertile eggs next time.

If they're anything like my long fin bronze cory's and high fin pepper cory's, i'll be scooping eggs out daily. It's a busy nursery tank, that's for sure!!! I'd really like to see my high fin albino's spawn. They're soooo stubborned!!! I've had them for a long time and nothing. There are 6 of them, so I thought the odds of having mixed sex's was pretty safe.

Ahhh well. I'm thrilled about the panda's. I'm getting 6 juli cory's on Sunday for the new 45 that i'm putting up. I'm almost done building the stand for it.
