Guess you had better start filling up that penny jar for your next trip. On second thought, that had better be a loonie jar with your current passion for plecos.

They? It was a store? Only a few of them seem to get a variety of Plecos in, so its nice that you hit one. The only ones I know of need a very very very looooooooooong quarantine though, and two I refuse to buy from at all, so play it safe!

Melody if you decide to find a new home for yours I will be interested! I know someone else who has them and was wondering if yours are from somewhere else. Your posts have taught me to be careful about inbreeding genes:yes: and I would want them from two breeders.

I cleared out my 25 gal before I went and did a water change with salt. I know pleco's don't have much of an appreciation for it, but neither do parasites. Everyone seems to be doing quite well accept for King Tiger. He/she has ich.... suggestions??? Just water changes and salt or meds???

My guess is they're all from the same source. The strain is definitly very inbred already. There was only one fish found and it was outcrossed to a regular BN Pleco, then the strain was set. If you want to diversify, you'd have to outcross to a regular BN and then purify the strain again.
That said, if you want them I'll let you know when/if I decide to move them. Probably won't be until I get some of the other strains in.

My L066 and L031 had ich when I got them as well.
Anyway this is what I did to treat them.
- Rasied temp to 30/31C
- Added 5mL (1tsp) of Para-guard per 40L (10gal) of water
- Added 10mL (2tsp) of aquarium salt per 40L (10gal) of water
- 50% water change every other day with gravel vac specifically for the bottom (to catch and remove loose cists)
- Remember to add back the salt when you add back the water.
This should be maintained for 14 days or 7 days after you stop seeing spots on the fish, whichever is the longer period of time. Shouldn't be much longer than 14 days as Ich has a rather shortened life cycle at the higher temps.
