When I was new to having shrimp/fry etc.m I was really nervous about sucking them up and after looking in my 'fish stuff junk box' here's what I came up with. It will not replace siphoning out the junk on the bottom which I still did with the airline tubing pictured but it did remove 40% of the water safely even with fry shrimp/ swimming right next to it which if you strain/cross your eyes you can see in the photo's. Please excuse my horrible photo's and the multiple crop sizes.

This is probally a no brainer but I figured I'd share. :;):

Materials
Regular small airstone
Airline Tubing
Bucket
