View Full Version : Is this a good price for a CO2 system?

I have been looking for a reasonably priced CO2 system. I think I just got a really good lead on CO2 tanks and regulators. How does this sound:

5lb. tank that comes filled
2 way guage/regulator (shows output and current tank pressure)

$90 to $100

Thoughts? Is this a good deal?

Sounds like a reasonable price
Try to get the regulator that comes with a needle valve, ( for regulating bubble speed)
and a solenoid, so you can set it to a timer.
I got a 20lb co2 tank, and that alone cost $150 full

It is a fairly good price. A full tnak out here in Toronto is 130.00 alone for a 5lb tqnk of CO2. Grumpy is correct about the other equipment you need you also will need a bubble counter and a diffuser for in the tank.

It's a good deal as long as it doesn't come with a cheap regulator that will dump a whole tank of CO2 into you aquarium when it fails. As mentioned, the price is very good so even if you have to invest in a better regulator/needle valve/bubble counter/solenoid later it is still a decent price.

BTW, this is what most people out here use: http://www.jlaquatics.com/phpstore/store_pages/details/co2_equipment.php?product_ID=cr-ppmilreg. (http://www.jlaquatics.com/phpstore/store_pages/details/co2_equipment.php?product_ID=cr-ppmilreg)

Thanks for your replies! I have the diffuser and bubble counter already from a previous set-up. The guage that is coming with it is for industrial use and I have been assured is more than safe for my purposes (it better be, it's my best friend who owns a fire safety company that will be supplying me with the stuff!).

Best part...refills are FREE!!!!

In my neck of the woods, refills for a 5lb cylinder are almost as much as for larger ones, so it sounds like you've got a good deal there.

Free refills are always good. You will need a needle valve if this regulator is an industrial one. Otherwise you won't be able to fine tune the amount of CO2 being released from the tank.
