Its the most wonderful time of the yeeeeeeear....

First beef - the short first day. What's up with that? We never did that when I was a kid. It just makes it more difficult for parents making arrangements.

Second beef - they found time in the couple of hours that he was there, to ding me for a hundred bucks in fees & books.

BUT otherwise he's settling into high school, my baby boy. How that happened I don't know. He was 6 just last week, I'm sure of it.

How'd it go for everyone else? Was it back to school for you or someone you foot the bill for?

I can't believe your son is already in grade nine. Steph is in her last year of High School. So far no hands out for money. But once she has a chance to visit the tuck shop, will have to foot the bill for some new uniform pieces.

He's in grade 8 - they start them young in a lot of places here. She's in her last year already? Weren't we just discussing her first boyfriend a month ago? Its a cruel joke that the older we get, the faster the time goes.

Uniforms must be a blessing when it comes to girls...lol. Is she looking at continuing her education? Now THAT bill scares me!:err:

Yes she is planning on being a pastry chef. She is taking her second year of chef's prep an apprentice ship preparation course. And is hoping to get in to a local bakery for her co-op. Plus she is trying to get hired by the foodland here in the bakery.
Yes is does seem like a very short time ago.
With girls the uniform is the way to go.

That's great! I didn't know there was so much involved. She will have to come up with a pastry fishy and we'll make her rich!

Actually the bakery where she wants to do her co-op makes pumpernickel bread in the shape of lobsters to serve spinach dip in.

Cool! Never heard of bread in anything other than the usual shapes... and love pumpernickel bread... Yummm!

As for kids growing... it sure happens quickly. As for the expense of kids heading back to school, just when you figure you've got it all covered, they come home with another note requesting more money for something or other. I'm sure glad I no longer have to face those expenses.

I have no kids myself but 2 neices and 4 nephews. the 4 boys and 1 of the girls are all in school now. The oldest finished high school last year and the youngest of the boys (my godson) just entered grade 1 this year. I think the youngest girl starts pre-kindergarten next year or this year... I need to look into that... lol

As for Pam's daughter... I think there is a Cordon Blue Culinary School in Ottawa. Supposed to be one of the best. I also hear George Brown here in Toronto is internationally recognised as well.

Right now she is looking at Niagara College ( 20 minutes from us). But good to know of others if this does not work out. She is thinking of working on cruise lines until she is ready to settle down and then in one of the wineries here. Or she may do something out of her house etc.

If she is really interested in wineries then she should look at George Brown. Their courses are internationally recognised and most of the graduates have jobs even before they finish their final year.

I went down to check on mine at recess when he started Kindergarten. :Embarassing: They're not kidding when they say the time goes fast - it honestly only seems like a few short years ago, not even close to 8.
